Model of a DNA Replication. The old double helix (gray) is unwound, each separated strand acts as a template for replicating a new partner strand (red). vector flat illustration
Basic DNA replication. Visualization of semiconservative DNA replication, when each daughter DNA double helix is composed of one conserved strand and one newly synthesized strand.

A telomere is a repeating sequence of double-stranded DNA located at the ends of chromosomes. Each time a cell divides, the telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become so short that the cell can no longer divide.
